San Francisco is the financial, cultural and commercial center of Northern California. The county of San Francisco covers an area of close to fifty square miles, making it the smallest county in California. With a 2014 estimate of over 850,000 people, San Francisco is the 4th most populated city in the state, trailing only Los Angeles, San Diego and San Jose.
The city is a very popular tourist destination, known mostly for its rolling hills, fog, cool summers, mix of architecture and numerous famous landmarks including Alcatraz prison, cable cars, Chinatown and the Golden Gate Bridge. San Francisco is the headquarters of major banking institutions and many other companies such as the Gap, Reddit, Levi Strauss, Dropbox, Weebly, Yelp, Twitter, Uber and Pinterest.
